Mental Health Workforce Development Efforts

Here at WUCMAA, we are joining the state-wide (and nationwide) efforts to address the mental health shortages in our communities. Mental health services are imperative, and representation matters. MHWD is dedicated to increasing advocacy and knowledge regarding our state and communities’ mental health services and workforce. MHWD seeks to increase the pipeline engagement for individuals to enter the mental health workforce for Southeast Asian and Hmong communities’.

Our Mission

Forging connections and pathways for increased Southeast Asian and Hmong providers in the mental health field through advocacy, education, and mentorship.

The coalition and its members hope to carry out its mission through the following objectives:

  1. Advocacy: identifying gaps in mental health through the lens of the Southeast Asian and HMong communities

  2. Education: identifying and mitigating barriers toward educational pathways and career trajectories

  3. Mentorship: building relationships and connections to mental health and substance use providers

How to support our efforts

  1. If you are a Southeast Asian or HMong student pursuing a mental health career track, join our student coalition form.

  2. If you are a Southeast Asian or HMong mental health service worker, consider listing yourself in our directory form
